CA Global: Construction and Engineering (Building Projects) has a client who is a leader in residential developments, looking for an Mechanical Design Engineer with experience on high rise projects to be based in Ghana.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design all mechanical systems including plumbing , firefighting, and HVAC systems.
  • Prepare all systems details such as schematics, calculations, schedules and connections.
  • Co-ordinate with Architects and MEP teams at all stages relating to concept design, preliminary design, detail design and approval.
  • Prepare full specifications and calculations for relevant authorities’ approvals.
  • Follow-up with the updated requirements from departments for implementation.
  • Participate in project discussions with departments
  • Supervise a team of Mechanical Draughtsmen.
  • Conduct site visits and assessment, as required to execute design work.
  • Keep records and documents for projects handled.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or Senior Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in mechanical design works.
  • Must have experience on high rise projects.
  • Experience working in the Gulf on High Rise Building projects will be advantageous.

CA Global: Engineering and Construction (Road/Highway Project) has a client who is a leader in their industry in Zambia on the lookout for a Resident Engineer with excellent communication skills, time management, and problem solving abilities. The position will be based in Zambia.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise construction staff, such as inspectors, engineers, project administrators and sub-contractors.
  • Provide technical advice regarding the design and construction of the roads.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials needed on the project.
  • Liaise with Department and approve Contractor’s submissions.
  • Generally supervise, review, monitor and report on progress.
  • Give final approval to works and arrange handover.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidates must have at least 10 – 15 years road rehabilitation and construction monitoring experience.
  • Must have a tertiary education in Civil Engineering (BSc or HND)
  • Candidates who are professionally registered will receive preference.
  • A thorough knowledge of current practices in road rehabilitation is essential, as is the knowledge of the related construction quality control requirements. 
  • An understanding of contract administration and management of construction monitoring teams is also a requirement. 
  • An ability to undertake road rehabilitation investigations and to assist in the design of road rehabilitation measures would be an advantage.

Headlines: Fatima Fertilizer Plans $1 Billion Africa Plant to Grow Overseas

Business Week - Fatima Fertilizer Co. (FATIMA), Pakistan’s third-biggest maker of the farming ingredient, plans to build a new factory in Africa at an investment of about $1 billion to tap international markets.


The company expects to finalize plans this year to set up the factory, Fawad Ahmed Mukhtar, chief executive officer, said in a telephone interview from his Lahore head office. The fertilizer maker may consider forging a partnership by investing $200 million, he said, without elaboration.


Fatima registered its American Depositary Receipts in New York in March 2011 to raise its profile and expand overseas, aiming to overcome a chronic gas shortage at home. Voice of AmericaGabon’s President Ali Ben Bongo Ondimba has launched an ambitious development program, which, he says, will totally transform the country’s economy and infrastructure to better the lives of all Gabonese.

Administration officials say co-hosting the just ended African Nations cup with neighboring Equatorial Guinea, was one of the many initiatives Mr. Bongo Ondimba undertook to showcase Gabon to the entire world.

“We are proud to have been a co-host of the African Nations Cup. We have invested in an extensive program of infrastructure development in preparation.
